halloween and all things halloween related even though i don't have any plans for this halloween. there is something called "goth rave" going on at gillie's which is a local vegetarian restaurant where i would like to go take pictures, but it's on my boyfriend's only night off so we will have to wait and see...

my mama, always, but had to mention it special today because she is getting me photoshop for christmas because i got ripped off by someone who was selling it on craigslist so now i have a $150 cd shaped coaster that says "photoshop cs4" on it.

this yummy volcom hoodie that i've been lusting after in a local skate shop window for about a month now.

horses. pictures of horses. going to go take pictures of horses and maybe some llamas before it gets too cold out hopefully.

tattoos. it is about time for a new one. and what do i have in mind for my new tattoo? well i have had this image in my mind for a tattoo for a few months now, but no one else thinks it is a good idea.

etsy love & wild wednesday: rover by roverdog

when i saw rover by roverdog it was love at first sight. the photography is beautiful, the little dog clothes are to die for, and those little dogs are so sweet! it makes me want a smaller dog or to dress my little bunny charlotte up in these cute little outfits. so roverdog is doubling as my etsy love and for somewhat couture's wild wednesdays.

twice owned tuesday: my canon elan iie

this is my canon elan iie. i bought it off of ebay a couple weeks ago. i had been looking for a good slr camera that would be compatabile with the lenses for my canon rebel xti. i think i got an amazing deal for $40. the previous owner kept it in really amazing condition.

here are some photos i took with my first roll of film that i put through my canon elan iie...

Wednesday Addams is the only daughter of the Addams Family, the creepiest family on the block.

-Dress [keep it black with a goth feel], bonus points if it has a white collar
-Black Mary Janes/boots
-Black stockings
-Black nail polish
-Creepy bald babydoll
-Giant [fake please] knife



Wednesday Addams Costume Hair
Wednesday Addams has jet black hair, if you don't have it you can always fake it with a black wig or spray in hair color. Wear it in pigtail braids on either side of your head.

Wednesday Addams Costume Make Up
In the movies, Wednesday's makeup was pretty much nonexistent... Black eyeliner and black mascara and you are good to go. If you want to glam it up a little bit, do a smokey eyeshadow and add some fake eyelashes.

How old are you/when were you born?
I'm 19 years old, born on August 17th 1991.

Where are you originally from and where are you located now?

I'm from a suburb of Sacramento, CA, and I now live in a different suburb of Sacramento, CA.

When did you discover your interest in photography?

I bought my first film camera a Canon AE-1, which is still my main camera, at a yard sale when I was 13 for $20. Pretty solid deal. Not much of interest really came out of that time. I took a black and white class in my freshman year of high school where I took a few decent pictures I guess. Photography was pretty far on the back burner for most of high school. In my first semester in college I took another black and white class and I suppose that's when I get really excited about photography then.

Who are some photographers that you like that inspire you?
Silvershotz Magazine almost always has some impressive work in each edition. On Flickr I'm a big fan of thedirtystory's work. It's pretty dang sexual and I like it for that. Netra.n has some really amazing work. I love the good use of people vs architecture/geometry. Her shots are oftentimes pretty large in scope in both visual and emotional weight. Martin Stranka's work is just DARK, and therefore AWESOME. Cass Bird is awesome. Oh and Samuel Bradley, just like everyone else does.

None of these really seem to show up in the translation to the work I make though, bummer.

What is your favorite thing to photograph?
I'm not really sure, I really like portraiture, but I think I get most excited about long exposures. I love water, I wish I incorporated more water into my work. I love anything that can be shot with super shallow depth.

Can you list off all of your photography equipment and which of these items you use most often?
I shoot a Canon AE-1 with a 50mm f/1.4 which I use a lot. A Ricoh XR-10 with a fucked up light meter and a whole ton of Tamron lenses. Two wides, a 50, Portrait Macro, and a 300mm (I forgot) Macro & a Holga 135TIM, it takes two picture on each frame, it's pretty neat.

Do you believe that film photography will be replaced by digital photography?
I don't think it'll ever be entirely replaced. I feel like the texture of film will always be admired, or at least for a long while to come. When film dies, I'm sure it'll be at the same time still photography dies.

Do you have any advice for someone who is aspiring to become a photographer?
Shoot full manual. Always.
